Life at the Parish home has been busy. Let me start with a few thank-yous. Mari and and Ann both sent me a note on Friday just to say - people are thinking about us and we are loved. I was so touched. Thank you and I have passed this along to Lily and Justin. We have also continued to received contributions for the Sharon Parish Memorial Fund. THAT is so helpful. Lily is getting enrolled in additional activities now, and coming up in May I'll be paying in advance for the next school year at Waldorf to get the 10% discount. That will put quite a dent in the fund. So know that your contributions are helpful in many ways for Lily.
Some quick upates:
Lily is doing well with school, I think. Really well. She's hit a new stride around studying. We found a really cool way for her to take notes and create flash cards that is making such a big difference.
I'm not sure if I mentioned this but there is a second chime sitting out next to Sharon's. Same kind, only much smaller. They are getting along very well and I've noticed the last few weeks that the two of them have been making beautiful music together. When I sit down for lunch I always hear them talking and singing with all the winds we've had this month. I let them know I'm listening and how beautiful they sound together. I find those chimes so comforting.
Justin and Juliet have made it over a few times and we've had some dinner meals at the house and watched movies together. I really like it when the 'kids' come over like that.
Business is going well. My audio podcast show Talking Portraits will soon be hosted at ITConversations.com, which means my audience size is going to be huge now in comparison. It's going to be more 10,000-15,000 per episode. I'm quite jazzed and very honored to have this opportunity. I'm sorting out the technical issues of how I properly upload the files to them. Always something new to learn.
On the horizon is a new company - Tom Parish Inc. I have a very cool team of people helping me pull together many different kinds of consulting and media projects. It's time to step up and make this a bigger effort. I'm focusing on the area of social media solutions for businesses. Be sure to check out www.LeverageSocialMedia.com for a new article going up later this weekend about Kalivo.com. In addition I have some video productions and projects in the works. One of them is a documentary by Jensen Walker the Photographer. I'll be posting a short version of that in a few weeks. Another idea that is percolating is doing a documentary on the benefits of wind power for small rural towns and communities. I'm looking forward to teaming with Claud Matney (as the content expert) on that, along with Carolyn Baehr to help me organize the effort. As always, Jenny Meadows continues to partner with me on almost every project for continuity and copyediting. And the two of us have become good movie-watching buddies on Friday nights.
What an exciting year!
And speaking of a big year: You know that Lauren is getting married July in Houston and Justin is getting married in October - all this year. As you can imagine, Sharon was looking forward to these moments. She talked of it often; in fact, she was starting conversations about grandkids. I suggested she hold off on that just a bit more, but not Sharon! She wanted to start talking about how we would be taking care of them.
I have some new pictures coming. One is a shot of Sharon's More To Life trainer's briefcase that I took at the last training I staffed in November in Houston with Peggy and Jan (I was the TC). And Grandma Gerry found a picture of Sharon at 16 at a local beauty pageant contest. Sharon has on a beautiful white dress and is strutting her stuff down the runway.
I'll be uploading some new pictures soon. Stay with me.
with Love
Tom
P.S. As we near May 31, 2007, I'm thinking about some kind of celebration for Sharon's passing. I know many of us in the family will remember that day for the rest of our lives. I'm curious what you would like to know or hear about as that day comes close.
And I'm looking at putting together a number of video interviews of people who knew Sharon so well. This might include some travel, I reae, but that's OK. I'd like to capture the impact she made on people, and maybe we can use the media to show and teach a few of the concepts Sharon was so committed to while on her path on earth with us.
